Most of our students are working well below the expected standard for their age group and key stage. This means although we follow the national curriculum expectations, we need to adapt and differentiate our lessons to suit our learners. This also means that the students cannot be assessed against the Key stage standards as they are unable to reach these expectations. We use the “Pre-Key Stage standards” to assess our students and are required to show evidence of this at the end of Key stage 1 and 2. Although some of our students are not able to meet the pre- key stage standards. Their assessment pathway will be personal and we will have high expectations of progress within their assessment pathway such as engagement steps.
All students who access Pre-key stage standards also have access to the “Extended Curriculum".
