Key stage 3

All pupils at Key Stage 3 have access to a wide and balanced thematic curriculum. We cover all the subjects and areas of the National Curriculum at an appropriate level which meets the needs of our pupils. The subjects are often delivered through cross curricular themes which helps to engage pupils in their learning and get them to see links between the different areas of the curriculum.

There are 2 main pathways within Key Stage 3, for both sensory and more academic pupils, and teachers use a wide range of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic approaches to teaching and learning. School residentials, such as PE trips to Stoke Mandeville, are offered to all pupils and we actively encourage them to engage in extracurricular activities as an extension of our curriculum. This can be found through our work with the newly integrated ELS Youth Club, which introduces Key Stage 3 pupils to new opportunities through external agencies, such as The Grundy Art Gallery and Blackpool Council.
