Highfurlong School is a co-educational community special school, catering for pupils aged 2-19 with a wide range of special educational needs. These include physical disabilities, requiring high levels of medical/ therapy input and often with additional learning needs, autism, complex communication needs, sensory impairments and academically higher achieving severe learning difficulties students (SLD).
Pupils attending the school have clearly identified special educational needs and would usually have a Statement of Special Educational Needs, an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) or be in the assessment process for one.
All pupils have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) and a statutory review of the statement is held annually, where the child’s progress is discussed with parents and other professionals and targets set for the following year.
